Shopsmith (old) news

Many of my customers do not know this:

July 10, 2009 – Shopsmith Inc folded, laying off much of its remaining staff, and reorganized under a new name (RLF LLC) and business structure to get out from under a huge amount of debt. More and more parts have been on backorder and backordered parts are taking longer to receive. The factory store is no longer open to the public. They do few travelling demonstrations. There are no factory classes. There are no travelling workshop classes. There are many add-ons and tools they no longer support with replacement parts.

My independence from the company and my vast inventory of new and used parts allow me to continue to service Mark V headstocks despite the company’s problems.

Did you know?

There are 1.1 million Shopsmiths in the US.A new Shopsmith Mark V currently retails for $2,999 or more.

Used outfits average $500 to $1,000. Even with repairs figured in, they are a bargain. They usually come with lots of extras, too.

The typical headstock repair for parts and labor is $350 to $400. (March 2018)
